2025 leans in, and whether it reveals itself as the best of times or the worst of times, it’s the only time we’ve got…best crack on then.
2024 had its moments.
Being chosen by Sir Michael Eavis to play The Pilton Party alongside The Libertines and CMAT. That was one.
Marc Almond, once again, invited me on tour; and we played some of the most beautiful theatres across the UK and Europe.
More moments.
‘Coyote Club’, kicked off, in Bristol at The Elmer’s Arms. A curated monthly residency where I had the space to make whatever noise I wanted, whilst inviting others to join in. Wouldn’t have been possible without Elmer & Laurie’s support in hosting us at their wonderful venue.
Big thanks to both: and we’re going to carry that through into 2025…
There was a grand day out back in May after being asked by Aston Villa to play at Villa Park before our Premier League win against Bournemouth.
Moments.
Memories.
A thank you to Adam Lipinski, Stu Englefield, Graham Nicholls, Tom Kuras & Ewan Durn, who when assembled become ‘The Crown Electric’.
It has been a complete joy sharing these stages with you all.
Perhaps the biggest shout out goes to all who supported me in 2024.
Every person who has come out to a show, bought a record, a CD, or a t-shirt: or just came over to me and said hello at the merch stand up and down the country.
People like Sue & Tony in Newcastle and Anne in Edinburgh. Music fans who took the time to share their stories and their passions.
It can sound like a broken record but that support is what makes the difference.
These end of year ‘wraps’ pretty much only show the best version of ourselves; highlighting success, showcasing how we wish to be seen.
We rarely shine a light on the hours of work put in, the isolation, the bouts of loneliness, the moments of doubt and lapses in faith, and the constant struggle to make a living from your own music.
Every artist who is doing great things has worked their ass off to get to that position (unless your daddy’s rich, and your momma’s good looking, but that’s a conversation for another season).
So a final shout to every hard working musician out there carrying the fight into 2025.
And fucking hats off to everyone for just getting through the year.
Because life can be hard.
Let’s count our blessings.
We are here and we are healthy.
Moments.
Cherish them.
All my focus is now on new songs: and the next album.
Somehow, within the maelstrom, I cobbled together just about enough cold coin to make one.
See you next year…and please keep watching this space. Who knows, I might eventually do something interesting…
