What a beautiful couple of weeks it has been.
Two fantastic shows to close the UK leg of the tour. Edinburgh, on a Saturday night, at the beautiful Usher Hall.
The character of this stunning building amplified by the warmth of the Scottish audience and staff.
Nothing but kindness here. A heartfelt thank you to Anne, who helped me with my merch. She has been working there for 25 years and was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met – we talked as we worked together; about all the acts she’s seen here, including her personal favourite, Buena Vista Social Club.
She sent me on my way with a hug and a promise she’d spread the word about my music.
And then on Sunday night, in New Brighton on the Wirral: no better reason to ferry, from Liverpool, across the River Mersey..
So much warmth from the people in these parts of the world.
That’s what makes everything worthwhile.
People.
The audiences I’m meeting at every show, their disparate stories, but all sharing a common denominator – a passion for music.
Thank you to everyone I’ve met up and down the country over the last couple of weeks, and to everyone who has bought a record or a t-shirt, and to every single one of you reading this who has recently joined the mailing list. You keep the wheels on. I hope to be back in your town sooner rather than later.
And of course a huge thank you to Marc Almond for his generosity in inviting me to play these shows, as well as his wonderful band and all the crew involved.
In the meantime, the show goes on and it’s all eyes on Dublin City tomorrow night…
